CFI looking to add on a CFII

Asked by: 9174 views Flight Instructor

I'm looking to add a CFII rating on to my CFI.  My question is do I need to take the Flight Instructor Instrument Airplane "FII" written test or do I need to take the Flight Instructor Instrument Airplane (added rating) "AIF"

If you hold Flight Instructor Instrument Helicopter or Powered Lift and are adding Instrument Airplane, you take AIF.

If you do not hold any Instrument rating on your Flight Instructor certificate, you take FII.

Your flight instructor should know this.

I agree with Kris. You will need to take your FII which is just like the Instrument written only less questions….
