Sponsorship? or scholarships?

Asked by: 3437 views Commercial Pilot, General Aviation, Private Pilot, Student Pilot

Hello,

I really want to finish up my privates license, however there were complications in my training (basically I moved and was forced to finish up in a cub). all this training has taken a huge hit on my wallet and I was wondering if a rumor I heard was true. I heard that some airlines will sponser some student pilots up until thier commercial rating, But i'm not sure if I believe it. If anyone has any information on any finacial aid for student pilots please let me know.

Thanks!

I have not heard of this in the USin years though some non-US operators will do this.

Same as Sam, I too have not heard of any U.S. airline doing this. I do know for a fact that Lufthansa does. I have a buddy at my flight school who was “hired” or “sponsored” by them in high school (or the German equivalent). They paid to send him here for the 4-year Pro Pilot B.S., which got him through commercial multi-engine. I know of one acquaintance that is working with a similar program with Cathay Pacific overseas as well. Just sad the U.S. guy’s don’t do this.

MEA Airlines dos it they will send to a 2 years program from a Cessna 152 all the way to air bus 320 or 737 when your done now you have a job with the airline then they will deduct the cost of your training from your paycheck .
