There is no age limit when it comes to being a pilot in civil aviation. I have trained 14 year old kids all the way to 80 years old.

There are age limits to get hired as a commercial pilot. Other than that, there is no maximum age limit to become a pilot, at least not in the US. I have had student pilots at 70+. 🙂

The limitation is more due to health than age. Except for a sport pilot (and some other, non-airplane ratings), you need to pass a medical exam to get a pilot certificate. Some people can do that into their 80’s while some in their 20s and 30s can’t.

One of the best CFI’s my my region for tail-wheel instructing is in his early 90s. Although he looks like he is 59… It’s a medical thing and not a number thing…

Your carer as a commercial pilot in US expired as soon as you get 65 years old
