When I look at approaches for KCGF I noted there was no frequency for Weather. When I look at the A/FD I see theweather source listed as LAWRS. What is this and how does it impact me as a pilot?

Thanks

LAWRS = Limited Aviation Weather Reporting Station
Basically LAWRS for controllers, means they’re certified weather observers, and generate the METAR report and SPECIs themselves for that airport. Never seen it listed as the weather source, usually a tower will have an ATIS, that contains the weather info.
For the document which describes how the weather observation is supossed to be taken look at: http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/at_orders/media/SWO.pdf It also tells all the nitty gritty details about METARs as well.
If you ever get to take the test, it’s a pain in the rear to pass.

At thoses locations that have an AWOS, the towers are now required to take the weather observations instead of the automated system due to the AWOS being unable to do a SPECI.  This is why they are now listed as a source of weather.
