FAA Helicopter ATP certification

Asked by: 4568 views Helicopter

I am holding an Indian ATP (helicopter). I wish to obtain an FAA ATP, without having to travel to the US. Is there a way I can achieve this anywhere closer to India ? And how ? I hold ratings on Bell 206B, 206L, 407, 230 and AS355, Alouette helicopters with over 4500 hours experience.

May or may not be possible.
You need to take a knowledge test.  Finding a site to take the test may be difficult.
You also need to take the practical test.  Finding a pilot examiner or inspector, especially for helicopter will be difficult.
Try calling the General Aviation division of Flight Standards at (202) 267-8212.
If there are any pilot examiners sited overseas, they would know or would be able to track down.

The Practical Test Standard is available on http://www.faa.gov.
I might be worthwhile to check with the Indian aviation certifying authority to see if they are aware of any FAA personnel in the country who might be able to certify you.
