Logging Dual

Asked by: 4217 views FAA Regulations, Flight Instructor

I have a few people in a private airport community who fly and want to brush up their instrument flying and VFR flying, they all own their own airplanes.  I am currently still working on my instructor ratings but will offer when I am legal to give instruction. My question is since I am giving instruction the only thing I would have to do is give them a TSA endorsement before we start? They all have USA citizenship.

I have someone who is not instrument rated so I know they need TSA endorsement but wondering about the others trying to brush up on their skills

Recurrent training for an already certificated sport, recreational, private or commercial pilot does not require TSA citizenship verification/endorsement. In terms of the one who is not already instrument rated, while training for the instrument rating does require citizenship verification/endorsement unless you are a CFII, I wouldn’t worry about it.

You may find that many flight schools verify/endorse everyone. That’s more for ease of bookkeeping than a requirement. So much easier to have records on everyone than to have to demonstrate why 25 people in a training database of 300 were not included, if you want to adopt that practice for your little community, go ahead. If you don’t, don’t bother.
