Maximum fuel imbalance in a cessna 152 and 172

Is there a maximum fuel imbalance in the fuel tanks of the cessna 152? What about the 172? My CFI asked me this, but I couldn't find anything about it.

If you have a POH for your C152 or C172, any limitations will be specified in section 2. There is a fuel limitations section where you would find any such requirement. Early C152/C172 won’t have a POH, but will have an AFM and there are placards that would define any limitations the pilot needed to know. Also, sometimes an autopilot, if installed may specify a fuel imbalance limitation.

I would tell my instructor “I can’t find one. If there is one, please show it to me?”

As John said, if there is a max fuel imbalance limitation, it would be in the Fuel Limitations portion of the POH Limitations section (or ore POH equivalent). While there are several limitations dealing with operation on one tank only (as opposed to Both), I am not aware of any specific numerical limitation as appears in aircraft such as the DA40.
