Remote FF endorsement from instructor who doesn’t use digital logs?

Asked by: 1012 views FAA Regulations, Flight Instructor

I did about 10 hours of instrument dual with a CFII but never got his endorsement in my logbooks for those hours. He recently retired at 82 years old and lives far away, and doesn't use Foreflight or digital logbooks.  All my time is now in Foreflight... how can I get his endorsement remotely if he's not digital?

He suggested I send a paper log of the time to him in the mail for him to endorse... can I just upload an image of this into my Foreflight entry?  Can't exactly staple or paste a sticker in like a physical logbook.

Thanks for any advice/ideas!

If all you are looking for is his endorsement of the dual flights, the instructor does not need to have ForeFlight, but would have to have email. You can request the Instructor signature from ForeFlight for each dual flight. If there is an endorsement required, it was suggested that a possible option could be to fill out a Logbook Entry with no time, but include the wording for the endorsement in the comments. The instructor would then be able to sign it off via email at that point, and it would be documented. You could also do as you suggest and include a photo of the entry and make a comment to see the photo for the signature.
