PPL adding IR what blocks in IACRA need to be checked

Asked by: 3035 views ,
FAA Regulations

I have a Private Pilot SEL ready for his Instrument checkride.

He is filling in the 8710-1 IACRA application. Which boxes should be checked in the top header area? I think they should be Private, ASE, Land, Airplane, Added rating, Initial. Is that correct?

Thanks

    After he logs into IACRA and starts a new application these are the entries;

    Type of Application:
    -Pilot
    Certificate
    -Private Pilot
    -Standard
    -CFR 61 (Completion of Required Test)
    -Added Instrument Rating

    Then select Start Application

    Go through the application as needed. At the end the 8710-1 should show in the top section;
    Certificate – “Private” marked
    Ratings – Instrument showing “Airplane” and “Added Rating” marked
    Other Information may or may not show “Initial” (I’ve seen it both ways)

    The 8710-1 will not show a Class as the Instrument Rating is for the Category only. In IACRA the student will select Airplane Single or Multiengine but that triggers a check in the DPE system to make sure that the DPE is qualified to administer the Practical Test. Not all DPEs who may administer a PT for Instrument are qualified to administer an Instrument PT in a Multiengine airplane.
