Experimental Avionics (Garmin G5) Use In Certified Aircraft Replacing Optional Equipment

My AMT-200S Aeromot Superximango is a certified aircraft that lists its electric attitude indicator as optional equipment (category is a glider, so not required for flight).
 
If the AI is optional, am I required to have a certified version of the Garmin G5 installed if I were to replace it, or is it legal to install the experiential version, as it is listed as optional equipment in the POH?
