Regulation Question

Asked by: 1601 views FAA Regulations

Hello,

I hold FW multi-engine ATP  and  FW single-engine private ratings.

Am I legal to file and fly IFR in single engine aircraft? I cant find this situation addressed in the regs.  I would think the answer is yes, but I thought I'd check.

Thank you for your help,  Mark

Before you got your ATP in a multi-engine airplane, you would have held a Commercial Multi engine aircraft rating and an Instrument Aircraft rating. The instrument airplane rating applies to a specific category of aircraft such as airplane. The Class such as single engine land or multi engine land is not specified for the instrument rating, it just reads as Instrument – Airplane. So it applies for any airplane rating you hold, be it the ATP Multi engine or the Private Single engine.

Okay, thank you for the answer.
I obtained my ATP back in the 1980’s and forgot what ratings I had before.
