I have 21 hours of training for a Privet Pilot license, My Third Class Medical has been denied for this license. Can these hours be carried over for a Light Sports License ?

    Assuming you are talking about the US, the hours can be used.

    But I’m sorry to have to tell you that you have a bigger problem than transferring hours. if your Third Class Medical application was denied, you can’t fly Light Sport.

    As the regulation puts it:

    A person using a U.S. driver’s license to meet the requirements of paragraph (c) while exercising sport pilot privileges must–
    ***
    (ii) Have been found eligible for the issuance of at least a third-class airman medical certificate at the time of his or her most recent application (if the person has applied for a medical certificate);

    You may want to try to get with an Aviation Medical Examiner to see if you could obtain either a Special Issuance Authorization (time limited) or Statement of Demonstrated Ability (no expiration).

    Good point, Craig. Depending on the reason for the denial, it may be something that can be corrected.
