Could someone tell the instructor test that I could take to become a ground instructor before completing my CFI/CFII?

    FOI – Fundamentals of Instruction

    BGI – Basic Ground Instructor
    AGI – Instrument Ground Instructor
    IGI – Instrument Ground Instructor

Taking FOI, AGI, an IGI will yield a ground instructor certificate ADVANCED and INSTRUMENT.

Given the high cost of taking a knowledge test (written test) today, there is no practical reason I can think of for ever taking the BGI test.

And if you’re thinking of multiple Knowledge Tests, an AOPA membership will save you 10%.

It seemed like it wasn’t worth it when I took the first couple of tests – I ended up taking 9 in a year (no resits). It was only after, that I realised how much it had all cost.
