Failed my CFI initial checkride, on numerous questions. Checkride felt more like an interrogation rather than a CFI check. Could barely look at my lesson plans and reference questions. They said the more i looked at my notes the more he knew i wasnt prepared. Also, felt like i needed to answer the questions right away. Point is, i've had better checkrides. would it be wise to retest with a different DPE? or just keep on trying with this current one?

Nobody can answer that question but you. We would have to be there to see what actually happened instead of hearing one side of the story to form an intelligent answer to your question.

Dang that is a bummer. I guess if you feel like you got a sense of the guy and what it is he wants, probably easiest to just use him again. Did you check around regarding his reputation with others in your area?

Some people you are just not going to click with, and its pointless to make it harder on yourself than it has to be – checkrides are no exception. Like KDS said, we\’d probably have to hear both sides and see if there might be some objective reason why he conducted your test that way.

Keep your chin up, you can do it!
