IR CURRENCY BEFORE ATP

Do i need to revalidate my instrument rating before sitting an initial ATP check ride 

since it has expired.

    If you are asking whether you should be instrument current for the ATP check, I would say yes. I had to file for both my airplane ATP and my helicopter ATP practical tests. This would not be an unusual request.

    Are you asking about the US or some other country?

    In the US, pilot certificates and ratings don’t “expire” and don’t “revalidate.” We have fairly simple rules about maintaining or regaining currency – the right to use the rating – and I’m finding it difficult to picture being proficient enough to pass an ATP ride without at least that level of practice.
