Need help for this question about staying in the protected airspace

To ensure that I remain within the protected airspace during the procedure turn, I should rely on DME information or I should be using the time? and why?

    You should use the most accurate means you can – why wouldn’t you? If all you have is time, use that. If you have DME, use that instead. If you have GPS, use that.

    Just like timing to a missed approach point, use the time if that’s all you have, but use the better options if you have them.

    The good news is that the protected area around a PT is substantially larger than we need absent very extreme conditions. Search protected area procedure turn in Google images to see they types of template used.

    That’s why timing in the “standard” method works. But as Russ said, why not use the tools you have to increase your situational awareness and increase accuracy?
