Test Expiration Date

Flight Instructor, Instrument Rating

I completed IRA, IGI, FII knowledge tests on 8.10.2015.

My understanding is that the "test results expire at the end of 24 calendar months after the month in which the test was taken."

I believe that I have until the end of August 2017 (8.31.2017), until my tests expire. Not sure of this, so I'm wanting to confirm.

I will be completing my instrument practical test, and also taking the FOI/AGI knowledge tests in August.

Thank you. Paul (Livermore, CA)

    You are correct.

    (However, the regulation is actually worded the opposite from what you typed, though the result is the same.)

    61.39:
    (1) Pass the required knowledge test:

    (i) Within the 24-calendar-month period preceding the month the applicant completes the practical test, if a knowledge test is required;
