Cessna 172 RG

I have a 1980 Cessna RG, recently the "gear up warning sound" stopped working when flaps are deployed when the radio is on Com 1, but still works on Com 2.

(stall warning works on both radios)

Any ideas on what is wrong? Instrument shop and mechanic's are not sure.

Looking at the wiring diagram in the POH the common part to the system is the dual warning unit. Is your cabin speaker functional? If so, does the warning sound play on that?

If the audio function of the stall warning system is only piped into your radio, not a cabin speaker, then it may be a failure of the input on just your comm1. Double check the easy stuff like crimps, splices, connections, etc… before anything more drastic. Worse case, try and slave in a known good radio to see if it is in fact the radio. Same with the dual warning unit if able.

A quick swing of the gear with the aircraft up on stands can help with the troubleshooting. See pdf pg 152 from this link to know what I’m referring to.

    Hope that helps….
