Assuming we\’re talking about Part 61, there is no minimum.

Don\’t read stuff into the regulations. If it doesn\’t say anything is required, it isn\’t required. Although I do feel your pain, as sometimes you have to jump around a lot. But note that a combined reading of 61.39 and 61.183 does not indicate any minimum hours, hours in the last 2 months, or anything like that.

It\’s clearly spelled out for Private, Commercial, etc., in their respective paragraphs like 61.109, but is absent for CFIs.

I agree with everything Russ said.

I would add, however, that 61.183 requires that you receive an endorsement for 61.187(b). The endorsement currently listed in AC 61-65F actually references 61.187(a) and (b). 61.187(a) requires that you receive and log ground and flight training on the appropriate subsection, in this case it is 61.187(b)(7).

I cannot imagine you being prepared for the practical test with one or two hours of instruction.
