Private written expiration

Private Pilot

I have taken my Private Pilot written exam on 12/17/2014 and passed it with a great score but have planned on finishing up with the practical test in September/ October 2016. My problem is that I was grounded in August 2016 for complications with my medical. I have been going round after round with the FAA over my medical since with requests for tests that do not not apply to my health, but rather to my job as an explosive technician. I have been told by my doctors that they have been asked more about by job description and been told by the FAA that they are really particular about people like me since people have been flying into buildings. My doctors (3 total) are getting exhausted with all the redundant requests for tests for things that they have produced test results for (and feel that do not apply to me as my health history does not warrant the requests). My question is that I have been grounded, and expect to be cleared for medical soon, but my 2 year period may run out about the same time I receive my new medical(I am hoping to receive). Is there any extension to the 2 year expiration date because of my medical issuance issue?

No, there is no extension available as far I know. While you could petition for a waiver (doubtful) it would be far easier, cheaper, and less time-consuming to just take the test again.

You will not need another endorsement either. Simply taking the old test you passed to the exam center will serve as proof.
