Student solo airport

Asked by: 2445 views FAA Regulations, Flight Instructor, General Aviation, Private Pilot, Student Pilot

Hello,

I am going through the endorsement notes of my CFI and I came up with question whether instructor can solo students at home airport if he has trained him there.

61.93(b) is for solo at another airport within 25nm, and I have seen some instructors doing solo at home airport.

If that isnpossible, what are the required endorsements ?

Steve.

    You are misreading the reg.

The portion of 61.93(b) you are referring to is one of a number of a special endorsements that is an “Authorization to perform certain solo flights and cross-country flights.” “Certain” flights, not “all flights.”

The one you are referring to permits a CFI to permit a student to make repeated solo cross country flights to an airport that is within 25 NM of home base. It is not a requirement that all solo flights take place away from home base.

Does my flight instructor have to be at the airport when doing solos.
Also am I free to just go fly whenever as long as I let my instructor know or do i need his permission.
