DVD based courses are wonderful if you are suffering from lack of sleep. However, if you really want to learn to fly a helicopter, I suggest you download the free FAA “Helicopter Pilot’s Handbook” from faa.gov. While not perfect, reading it will teach you far more than any boring DVD ever will. If you’re really keen, supplement this with the Helicopter FAA written test prep app from http://www.FAATest.com and also the Helicopter checkride oral exam prep at http://www.checkride.com. As far as I know, we are the only ones who make a widely available helicopter checkride oral exam prep, and we’ve gotten a ton of positive feedback from examiners and even (informally) from the FAA for it.

If you insist on viewing videos, there are numerous amateur ones on youtube that can give you some insight. In total, they are not any worse than the DVDs that I have seen.

You can’t learn to fly a helicopter from a DVD.

    Experience: I’m a helicopter pilot.
