FAA Checkride Abroad

FAA Regulations, Student Pilot

Hello,

I started my training few years back and I have not been able to finalize my PPL due to family and work obligations.  Last month I spend my vacation in Florida and decided to focus on it.  I passed my written, completed in total 43 hours and finally solo.  I only need to fulfill the solo cross country flights requirements and pass the check ride.  For tax reasons, I am not allow to spend more than 35 days in the U.S. because I am living as en Expat abroad; therefore, I was not able to finalize my training.  I needed only at the most two more weeks when my accountant told me I have to pack my bags and leave.

I have done some research and decided to get my PPL in the UAE or Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia were I live has the same regulations as the FAA. In fact their FAR/AIM are label the same with a GACA Prefix, e.i:GACA/ FAR 91.411

Here is the question. Since I would like to get an FAA PPL license, and the country regulations where I reside are the same as the FAA, can I do my check ride with a FAA examiner abroad and get my FAA PPL or do I have to get an GACA/FAA PPL and then go back to the U.S. and convert my license??

I was checking the FAR/AIM, the FAA website and many forums, and I have not find anything about this PPL examination abroad.  We have couple "N" license planes, so I can arrange the check ride in one on them if is needed it.

It will of great help if your comments come with an FAR/AIM, FAA, PTS (Practical Test Standards) reference.

Thanks

If you can find an FAA DPE, he can administer the practical test. When and if you find one, confer with him to satisfy yourself.

AIM and PTS are not regulatory.

    FARs don’t prohibit it.
