Is there a table or a chart in the C152 or C172 POH to calculate the glide distance? I looked myself and I couldn't find it.

I have a manual for a 1978 C152. The glide chart is in the Emergency Procedures section on page 3-9.

I have a manual for a C172 N model. The glide chart is in the Emergency Procedures section on page 3-11.

I have a manual for a C172 S model. The glide chart is in the Emergency Procedures section on page 3-26.

Is this an exercise for a test? They are all showing about a 9:1 glide ratio. This only holds true for the stated conditions which include “No wind”. You will seldom find yourself flying in a no wind situation, so the numbers don’t mean much.

They would also not be taking into account any obstructions. If you are over a city, you could hit the side of a building before achieving the distance promised by the chart.
