Can anyone make sense of this? 

 

Its to a NOTAM at KUOX.

Maybe I do not understand what "terminal route" means.

 

Since I am already asking about the NOTAMS at this airport:

    “Terminal route” is just a term referring to routes that provide guidance from the en route structure to the final approach fix, including feeder routes and initial, and intermediate approach segments.

    On the chart you reference, the segment from EDENT (an IAF on the approach and an airway fix) to TUNNG (an IAF/FAF) is NoPT “terminal route” segment from V11 to TUNNG.

    Sounds like there are temporary issues with using the DME to identify EDENT.

    Mark,

    You could be right, but I find the chart confusing when using the NoPT route from EDENT as it is charted minimum at 2500 MSL to the FAF. The profile view shows a different altitude that would apply after inbound from the PT of 2000 MSL. The VDA seems to be based on the 2000 MSL value. To fly the procedure from EDENT NoPT at 2500 would require a VDA of 4.8 degrees, which is sorta steep for my blood, particularly for a C or D category aircraft/speed. I suspect that they need to rethink the procedure from EDENT and the Mar 2015 date corresponds with a planned update to the procedure on the FAA production schedule.

    Update to my comments: They have rethought the procedure and broke it into a Y and a Z version.The planned publication date is November 13, 2014. The Y version is based on a TAA and uses GPS. The Z version moves the NoPT leg to a different fix further out and then steps down to 1800 MSL to the FAF. The new charts are on the IFP Information Gateway in the associated Coordination files:
