MeCPL IPC

Asked by: 3441 views Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor, Instrument Rating

Its been more than 12 months since i flew IFR, but im about to have my ME Comercial checkride , do i need and IPC to stay current even if im going to do ifr approches on the cessna 310 for the checkride..

if i shout 6 app in single engine ILS on the Cessna 310 does it count for the IPC..?

Basically does the MEComercial checkride override the IPC..?

Thanks in advance..

No. A commercial checkride is not an IPC substitute.

I already have the ground portion if i fly 6 approches that counts towards the IPC?

I already have the ground portion if i fly 6 approches in the Cessna 310, that counts towards the IPC? So i get familiar with the plane and start the requeriments for the IPC..

So i can save some money..

What “ground portion”? This is not a flight review where there is a formal “ground” vs ” flight” requirement.

From your question, I’m not sure you understand the basics of an IPC. If you are outside 12 months of currency (you indicate you are but are you?) It is a flight check by a CFII or Examiner that needs to include all the tasks in the “IPC” column of the Rating Task Table in the Instrument PTS. That’s not just your basic 6 approaches (it can be done with fewer than 6 approaches but there are other required tasks).

You can certainly talk to your Examiner about including an IPC as part of your checkride (sounds expensive). Or you can have your instructor (I assume you are receiving instruction for your ME commercial) to do an IPC for you.

This is something the MEI signing you off should look at and take care of as part of your training.

I agree with Sam. Provided your MEI in also CFII, ask him to complete the IP as part of the ME training.
