Can I perform the annual of my glider myself

Asked by: 3201 views ,
FAA Regulations, Private Pilot

Hello,

I'm a glider pilot and about to become (I hope) a power plane pilot. I spent most of my flying time this year working on my private pilot license. So I only flew 2.5 hours with my glider since the last annual. So I would like to know if I can perform myself the annual of my glider due to the fact that my baby didn't fly that much the past year ?

There is only one way that I know of whereby you could perform an annual inspection on your glider. That would be if you hold a Mechanic certificate with an Inspection Authorization.

It matters not that it flew only 2.5 hours.

If your glider is certificated as Experimental Amateur built and you built it and have a Repairman Certificate, you can conduct the Condition inspection (there is no annual inspection done on an experimental).
