How do you know if the airplane is equipped with Baro-Vnav?

According to FAR/AIM, requirement for VNAV/LNAV approach is either the airplane is equipped with WAAS or Baro V-nav.

1.how do you know if the airplane is equipped with Baro-Vnav?

2. What about WAAS? ( is it in GPS manual? or FMS?)

    There will be an FAA approved AFMS (Aircraft Flight Manual Supplement) that describes the limitations of the equipment. Most air carrier aircraft are equipped with Baro VNAV as are many of the FMS equipped Corporate aircraft. Very few general aviation piston aircraft have this equipment installed. GA piston aircraft are more likely to have a WAAS GPS if they are capable of flying an LNAV/VNAV approach, but the reason these approaches are incorporated into RNAV approach procedures is to support the FMS Baro-VNAV high end crowd. LNAV/VNAV is rarely of operational concern for a WAAS GPS. This is because even though a WAAS GPS is approved to fly these procedures, the vast majority of the approaches have an LPV as the best option. I tell my students that for all practical purposes, with a WAAS GPS, you can ignore the LNAV/VNAV minimums as there are very few exceptions.

    Regardless if the approach annunciates as LPV or LNAV/VNAV, they are flown in an identical fashion.
