Ground Instructor

Hi I recently passed my AGI and FOI. How can I sign/recommend students to write the FAA written examination at an approved center after I have instructed them?

You first must take you AGI and FOI test with completed 8710 to the FSDO yo receive you AGI certificate. If you live a good distance from the nearest FSDO I would also pass the IGI and add instrument privileges at the same time. Saves a trip to the FSDO later.

Once that is complete you can signoff the knowledge test for all certificates and ratings except for the instrument written.

The signoff is located in AC 61-65. The exception is you put your AGI certificate number instead of your CFI number.

Close Wes, but before he can even give instruction, much less an endorsement, he needs to meet the recency of experience requirements of 61.217.
