Online flight school?

Asked by: 3339 views Commercial Pilot

Hey guys... I am starting from 0 and planning to get my CPL.  I wanted to start with doing my flight school online then I can take the written test after I have finished.  I have seen several schools online but any advise from people who have done programs would be appreciated.  I have seen Gleim, if I was honest I woud like something more with video or close to live as possible.  Thanks for the feedback!

I’ve used the King Schools courses and found them very helpful. I used them to study for my IFR and FII writtens and scored a 92% and 82% respectively. I’ve looked at the Sportys videos, and they were not as entertaining as the King videos. Another option is the Sheppherd Air study course. It’s not video, however they are much cheaper. The benefit of Sheppherd Air is that you will almost certainly get high scores if you use them. The downside is that the focus is on memorization rather than correlative knowledge.

I have heard some pretty good feedback about King School… I am less concerned about “good scores” as I am about really understanding and being competent. Jeff, did you do their “get it all” program or what did you do? I know they have videos and all that I was thinking of only doing their online portion.

I got the “get it all” online IFR program. I believe the online and disc versions are essentially the same. The benefit of the online version is that you automatically get any updates.

You can also try our products as we don’t focus on memorization but rather on breaking down all those complicated concepts into material that a kid can easily understand. Our courses are only $89 rather than $279 and can be viewed offline.
