Lazy 8s technique question

Asked by: 4411 views Commercial Pilot, General Aviation

Having a little trouble on the lazy 8 maneuver.

I'm getting the correct 15 degree bank with maximum pitch at the 45 degree point, and airspeed below stall with 30 degree bank and level pitch at the 90 degree point, but the last 90 degrees ends up with either/and/or the speed faster than the entry speed, or the altitude higher than entry.

Any tricks on getting back down to the same altitude and entry airspeed?  And, does the entire manuever have to be at constant power, or can I throttle back at the 90 degree point to help slow the final half?

“either/and/or the speed faster than the entry speed, or the altitude higher than entry.”

You need a slightly lower power setting when entering the maneuver.
