Can I log Right Seat time in SES

Asked by: 4602 views FAA Regulations, Private Pilot

Hello,

I think I already know the answer to this, but in hopes of getting the one I want I thought I would ask here.

If I am a Private Pilot with an Airplane SEL rating can I log SIC time in a SES? I have had training, but havn't taken my check ride in the float plane. It's My Grandpa's plane and we were out flying for a few hours over the past couple weeks. Would be nice to have those hours in my logbook if I could.

You can only log SIC time when occupying a station of an aircraft that requires more than one crew member by type certificate or regulation (61.51(f)). And, you have to be qualified to act as SIC under part 61.55.

So, the short answer is, you cannot log the time as SIC.
