As a pilot, the normal natural progression is from simple (think single engine prop) to complex aircraft (multi-engine jet) and prospective employers will be looking for this natural progression in your logbook and resume.  If you make a major step backwards for an extended period of time, it won’t be a deal breaker but they might ask why in the interview.  If you are applying for a job flying a King Air, the employer will want to see that you have experience in similar complex multi-engine airplane.

If you’re just starting out, don’t worry about this stuff yet.  Just take it one very small step at a time and focus on getting your certificates and ratings.  The progression in aircraft after that will come to you.

Generally PIC multi-engine turbine is the holy grail of aeronautical experience, so jump at every chance you get to fly a turboprop or jet.

The next best thing is multi-engine time as most beginning to intermediate flying jobs require 500 hours of multi-engine experience as a minimum.

There are places (such as ATP) that will do mist of your training in a multi. If you really want the best deal maybe do everything in a multi, when you get your cpl you will have 250 multi.
