date ASEL rating obtained

I am filling out insurance paper work. They ask for the "FAA PILOT RATINGS NOW HELD AND YEAR OBTAINED" ASEL... AMEL... ASES... AMES... Instrument and Roto. Now I went from ASEL student to ASEL PP to ASEL IR. What was the date I obtained the ASEL Rating? When I got the Student Cert, The Day I soloed, or the Day I passed my PP practical?

    The date they are looking for in this case, is the date that your passed your private pilot checkride and obtained your private pilot ASEL certificate.

    Paul is correct. To further explain, your student pilot is not an “ASEL” certificate. Your private pilot certificate allows you to fly a Category (Aircraft) and Class (Single-Engine Land), but your student pilot certificate allows neither. Your student pilot certificate must be endorsed for a specific make and model for solo flight and subsequently endorsed again before cross-country flight is allowed. While the SPC provides certain (and tremendous!) privileges, it should not be confused with the ASEL privileges on your PPC.
