FTSP approval after switching visa status

If I already have FTSP approval on an F-1 visa (not issued by a flight school but by a university), I am employed, and my visa status changes to J-1 (due to non-aviation related employment) in the middle of flight training (which is being pursued for recreational reasons), do I need to apply for FTSP approval again?

Also: is there a problem with FSTP approvals on J-1 or is flight training simply not allowed on J-1 even if the J-1 has nothing to do with the flight school?
