IFR safety pilot seeking proficiency

I routinely fly with an older individual who owns his own airplane.  It is a C 182 and our typical flight consists of shooting multiple aprroaches at night.  I was wondering whether or not these approaches can count towards my 6 month instrument proficiency requirements, even though I only serve as a safety pilot, but typically operate under IMC conditions.  thanks for your help.

    They may not – you have to perform the approaches – not watch them.
