Do I have to log the name of IAP flown for instrument currency?

Asked by: 1575 views FAA Regulations, Instrument Rating

Is the number of approaches flown block on the logbook enough to prove currency or do I have note the exact approach flown (e.g. ILS 23 KABC)?

    The answer is neither.

What does 61.51 say? It’s pretty straightforward.

“The location and type of each instrument approach accomplished”

That’s it. ABC ILS or BCD RNAV is all that’s required.

…Arguably accurate, although I feel more comfortable adding the two extra keystrokes (or pen strokes) adding the runway numbers.
