    Reference FAR 61.57(d)(3)

Reference FAR 61.1 for the definition of “Authorized instructor”.

If my guessing is good today (I’ve seen this question often enough), you are asking about 61.167(2) which includes instruction among ATP privileges. Problem is, if you read that section, it says, “A person who holds an airline transport pilot certificate…may instruct…Other pilots in air transportation service.”

The part I bolded refers to FAA-approved Part 135 and 121 airline training programs in which both the instructor and student are part of the program. IOW, a Delta ATP is an “authorized instructor” when providing training to a Delta pilot trainees in a Delta approved training program. But is not an “authorized instructor” outside of it.

BTW, I am assuming the other ATP does not have an FAA flight instructor certificate with an instrument rating. Perhaps obvious, but you never know.
