Dual received logging error

Asked by: 2077 views General Aviation

So I'm flying for a part 135 airline and was sitting right seat logging SIC time. I was also logging the time as DUAL. I'm not sure why, I guess I was thinking since it wasn't PIC I might as well log it as Dual too. Since then I've upgraded and have been getting my log book ready for the regionals. Should I go through and fix this? (Like almost 1000 hrs) Or should I not be worried about it? I feel really stupid.

There will probably be various opinions on whether to and, if so, how. Personally, I would fix it if for no reason other than having accurate totals for an 8710 or other application. In terms of how “professional” crossed out entries would look, I would be more concerned with 1,000 hours of dual that, looking at the entries, i are obviously not dual. (Obviously: I’m assuming they are not endorsed with a CFI’s signature, certificate number, and expiration date)

Have you considered moving to an eLog? Probably a pain with all your hours, but a printout would not show the corrections.

I would calculate the hours in question and then make a one line entry in your logbook deducting the time with an appropriate comment in the remarks section.

Thanks for your answers! I like the idea of tallying up all the hours and then subtracting it out with a comment about it. That seems like the simplest and most professional way to go about it. I am starting an ELog so that’ll help supplement it all. Thanks again!
