Just out of curiosity, what is the scenario for your proposed time building?

Who will perform what function during the flight?
What flight time will be logged by each partner?

Spilt the hours so one will simulate instruments and one will act as PIC , no?
I want to build around 40 hours for the instruments rating requirements, with option to continue build time at the same place for the commercial requirements.

Well, what you need to be aware of is that only one of you will be able to log cross country time.

Also, the safety pilot can only log PIC when the other pilot is under the hood. That would exclude the time for startup, taxi, takeoff, landing, taxi and shutdown.
