Approaches with no landing distance available.

Hello,

I recently flew to Chattum Airport (CQX) and noticed that both of the approaches have no landing distance or TDZE published. I have done some research in the IPH and the IFH and have not found why an approach would not have these things published? Could someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

KCQX only has circling approaches. Rwy ldg and TDZE are not charted for circling-only approaches. TDZE is easy to understand, since which threshold would you chart the elevation of? With most airports, each threshold is at a different elevation, sometimes a significantly different elevation.

Rwy ldg sometimes differs too. Not necessarily at CQX, which is a simple piece of asphalt, but when you have runways with displaced thresholds and other modifications, landing on direction can allow much more or less distance than landing the opposite direction. So, they are not charted on circling approaches since it isn’t known which runway you will land on.

However, the length of asphalt is readily available in the airport diagram section of the chart – 3001 feet. And for most practical purposes, knowing the Apt Elev is good enough for estimating the runway elevation.

Sorry I can’t find the reference. But when no straight in minimums are published, Rwy ldg and TDZE are not published. (more than one runway is in play during the circle)
