Tower Operations

Asked by: 2239 views Private Pilot

I just recently passed my PPL check ride.  I had always heard about visiting a control tower while a student, but it never happened.   Does any one know if you can do that as a GA PP?

Yes, you can. It has to be prearranged, and I’m not sure what the proper procedure is, but yes, you can visit. My ground school class instructor mentioned getting all of us together for a tour of the OKC tower.

Sure you can! And need not even be an private pilot. Unfortunately there’s no standard procedure or online system to set up tours, so it differs for every location. The best way would be to just google the phone number for whatever facility you want. This public number will usually be to the office, then they can set it up. Another way is just tell them on frequency that you’d love to go up and visit them, then they’ll usually just give you a number to call when you land and are ready to go up. And congrats on the certificate!
