R-ATP requirements?

Asked by: 2988 views FAA Regulations

Hello all,

I was looking at the R-ATP requirements in 61.159 and 61.160. I'm R-ATP qualified in that I graduated from an AABI flight school. I understood the regs to say that I need to meet the experiences listed in 61.159, the only difference being that I would need 1000 TT and 200 XC time. Is this correct?

What would be a good way to build the XC time besides flight instructing? I have 600+ TT. Are there low time part 91 jobs that will yield quick XC times?

Thanks!

If the program you graduated from was a Bachelor’s degree program authorized under 61.159 then you would qualify for a R-ATP at 1,000 hours and 200 hours X-C.

I would say flight instructing would be an excellent way to accumulate not only the cross country hours but valuable experience that you will carry with you for the rest of your career.
