Student Pilot Cross Country

Asked by: 2296 views Student Pilot

In reading 61.109 a 5, I was told that the cross country solo required 3 takeoffs and landings at a towered airport along with full stop landings at 3 other points.  I read it as 3 full stop landings at 3 different points, and the 3 takeoffs and landings at a towered airport as being under the part 5 heading of solo requirements, not solo cross country requirements.  Is that correct?

Items ii and iii are two separate items. They do not need to be done in the same flight.

The “and” at the end of item ii is confusing.

Greg is correct, they are separate requirements. However, I often have my students fly to a towered field as one of the airports on their 150 nm XC and do their 3 landings there, as it’s good practice. But it’s not required.
