TIS Echo

Hey all. I fly a G1000 Cessna and I was just wondering what exactly causes the echoes that sometimes show up on the traffic page? I tried googling but couldn't find much.

I assume what you mean by a TIS echo is a ghost target that is really your aircraft. This can occur particularly when you are maneuvering or as you first climb into the coverage area. The radar can mistake your turning to be another aircraft and generate a target assuming that you continued on your original track. Usually after a brief period, the radar will figure out that there is only one aircraft and stop transmitting the duplicate. But it can wake you up.
