ATP time requirements without logbook

Asked by: 3178 views , ,
FAA Regulations

Hello folks, I was wondering if there is any way to demonstrate that I meet my ATP requirements even I don't keep records of all my flight time. In the last five years, I did not keep track of over 200 hours of flight time in my logbooks. Do I need to demonstrate all my flight time? Is it ok if I log those hours now, even four or five years later? Thanks

    61.51 (a) reads as follows:

Training time and aeronautical experience. Each person must document and record the following time in a manner acceptable to the Administrator:
    (1) Training and aeronautical experience used to meet the requirements for a certificate, rating, or flight review of this part.
    (2) The aeronautical experience required for meeting the recent flight experience requirements of this part.

So, yes, you do need to log the hours and use them to demonstrate that you meet the requirements for a certificate.

Without knowing your total flight time, how did you determine that you meet the requirements and are ready to proceed with the certificate?

How would you demonstrate meeting the requirements without logbook entries? Ask the examiner to just trust you that you are qualified?

If you have made other entries and are planning to put 200 hours of flight time from prior years in your logbook out of order, I would have something to substantiate those hours. Otherwise, it might look as if you are doctoring your logbook.
