CFI checkride tiesday with FSDO and he is bringing an airworthiness inspector

Asked by: 3903 views Flight Instructor

notified that I have been assigned the FSDO inspector for my initial CFI checkride and he is bringing an inspector for the AC.  He claims that he tried to get the exam out to a DPE but supposedly none could get it done - this is absolutely not true,  none were asked.  the CFI setting me up said this is the first time ever that the local DPE has not done one of his students for ANY checkride.  CFI setting me up also said that the FSDO would not let the local DPE do it and they were not going to do it either themselves. Multiple people are obviously lieing to me about this and just don't know how odd my situation is?  most other CFI checks were also in private AC and no AC inspector.

I don’t understand your problem. This is SOP at many locations for CFI check rides. If there is an airworthiness issue with the airplane you are using, you will need to get it corrected anyway before flight. All my CFI check rides were with the FAA Inspector.

thank you for your response. regarding SOP. In this area it not not SOP. Not only is it odd, but the CFI is telling me neither he not her usual DPE have seen anything like this before. I just cant find anyone who has every even heard of such a thing and both my CFI, the DPE and the FSDO are absolutely lieing about a few things – such as the DPE couldn\’t do it for months- yesturday he had it clear he was never asked and could have done it that day or today. Don\’t get me wrong, the plane and I are both ready to go. I\’m a full professor and teach med students and am a Senior AME. I just want a fair checkride, not to fidn out he\’s got a golf t time 1 hour after our supposed start

You need to read FAA Order 8900.1, Volume 5, Chapter 2, Section 11, Paragraph 5-499. This describes the conduct of Flight Instructor Practical tests. In essence, it states that the FAA retains responsibility for conducting Flight Instructor tests. However, the FAA recognizes that in some instances, inspectors cannot schedule the tests in a timely manner. In those cases, they are permitted to designate certain DPEs the authority to conduct these tests. The FSDO is responsible for assigning the DPE to conduct the test. It is not (or should not be) left to the CFI to select the DPE.

Additionally, I would not expect a “full professor” to speak in sentence fragments, forget to capitalize the first word of sentences or to misspell Tuesday as “tiesday”.

It is also inconceivable that your CFI, the DPE and the FSDO are all “lieing” (should be spelled “lying”) to you.
