Calm Wind Runway?

In calm wind situations, approaching an uncontrolled airport with no other aircraft reporting on CTAF, which runway should I select that would cause the least safety hazard?

Especially at an airport with one runway, I don't want to setup to land head-on with an aircraft flying without a radio.

Unless the airport has designated a certain runway as a preferential runway in calm winds in the AFD (and even then), there is no way other than self-reporting and keeping one’s head on a swivel machinating for traffic.

Meeting traffic head on is always a possibility. At my local non-towered airport I saw a Cirrus land straight in and downwind causing a 150 to Go-Around from short finals on the upwind runway. I didn’t have a radio with me and had no way of alerting either aircraft. Fortunately the 150 pilot was up to the challenge!
