Where do I go to learn the FOI material?

Asked by: 12774 views Flight Instructor

I'm looking to get my GI cert. I know to use Gleim for the knowledge portion, but where do you learn the Fundamentals Of Instruction from?  Are the tests hard like a University level, or more like a Community College level?  Thank you!

FAA.GOV has the foi handbook in free pdf format that has everything you need in it.

The Fundamentals of Instruction material is located in the Aviation Instructors Handbook which can be viewed online at the link below or purchased from a book store or aviation supplies store.  Gleim also makes a Knowledge Test Study Guide for the FOI as well.
I found the FOI test to be fairly easy to prepare for if you use the Gliem to study. It isn’t a very large database of questions for them to draw from on your actual test.  The key to the FOI is being able to apply it to actual instructing once you get your license.  Some people view the FOI as something they just have to get through but it really does help to give a basic insight into the world of teaching as a profession.

I used the Gleim study guide for mine. I’d recommend it
