How much time should I plan for the CFI ground school?

On average how much ground training in hours should it take to be ready for the CFI practical test? I have already been through every task of the Pts and prepared about 6" of information covering each task and area of operation. My CFI is pretty new and seems to be moving very slow. My thought is 25-40 hours at most given I teach the instruction and he critiques. Again just average time usually spent is what I am looking for.

I’m going to go with 4 hours. If a CFI cannot determine after 4 hours that you are ready to take the CFI oral then they’re not much good at their job.

If you need TRAINING for the CFI checkride, then it’s going to take as long as it’s going to take, and that’s hard to estimate without knowing more about you.

I suspect if you do some Googling around you can find some flight schools that describe their CFI training programs, and they’ll probably give you the number of hours of ground training you could expect in their programs if you want a generic metric.
